For hops(Humulus lupulus) only the cones of the female plants are used. Hop cones have a calming, relaxing and bactericidal effect. It contains various bitter substances that can alleviate nervous digestive problems.
Marigold(Calendula officinalis) strengthens the digestive organs, relieves nausea and helps with stomach ulcers. But it also strengthens liver, gall bladder and provides for shiny fur. For summer eczema, calendula soothes the skin from within, but it can also be used externally as a tincture for summer eczema.
The chamomile(Matricaria chamomilla) is rightly called a true jack-of-all-trades. Typical for camomile is the scent that probably everyone knows. The effects of chamomile are manifold and range from antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, calming and drying to antiflatulent and wound healing. It is used for digestive disorders, kidney and bladder problems, metabolic problems, calming of the nervous system, respiratory diseases and gynecological disorders.
Lavender(Lavendula officinalis) has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and soothing properties. The calming effects are mainly attributed to monoterpenes, which can alter the activity of receptors and channels in biomembranes. The essential oil in lavender irritates the stomach wall, which leads, for example, to increased intestinal movement and thus promotes digestion.
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is primarily used to calm the nervous system. It can relieve nervous heart problems, sleep disorders, restlessness, irritability and nervous stomach problems. However, in folk medicine it is used against almost all kinds of complaints.
